Media Release - Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources Deniliquin: 15 September 2005 INCREASE IN ALLOCATIONS FOR MURRUMBIDGEE GENERAL SECURITY WATER USERS Acting Regional Director of the NSW Department of Natural Resources Kaye Dalton today announced that the general security allocation level for Murrumbidgee general security users increases to 30 percent for the full season with 25 percent being available by the end of February.
She said that most of the increase resulted from rainfall in the last week.
Burrinjuck Dam is now storing 51 percent of capacity and Blowering 49 percent.
There is sufficient water available to meet 100% of entitlement for town water supply and domestic and stock licences, 95% of entitlement for other high security users and 100% of entitlement for supplementary licences during declared periods of supplementary water.
Ms Dalton said that the catchment remains in a wet condition and there were significant probabilities of allocation increases:
Assessment of the potential for allocations to increase has been carried out for a range of climate conditions:
- There are 9 chances in 10 of allocations of 34% by the end of October, 38% by the end of February and 42% by the end of May. - There are 3 chances in 4 of allocations of 39% by the end of October and 48% by the end of February and 52% by the end of May. - There is 1 chance in 2 of allocations of 49% by the end of October, 64% by the end of February and 70% by the end of May.
