Media Release - Ministers Office Sydney: 7 June 2005 FARMERS AND CONSERVATIONISTS MUST WORK TOGETHER FOR NATIVE VEG The NSW Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Natural Resources, Craig Knowles, said today that Mal Peters of the NSW Farmers Association, and Jeff Angel of the Total Environment Centre had to continue to work together to achieve the right outcome on new native vegetation laws.
“These are vital reforms. The Carr Government is committed to ending broadscale land clearing and to introducing a new regime of native vegetation management.
“We need this for the health of the environment and the long-term prosperity of the farming community.
“I’ve mandated the involvement in the planning process of the NSW Farmer’s Association and the Total Environment Centre from the start.
“And that involvement should continue right to the end.
“I will be asking Mal Peters and Jeff Angel to meet with me in the near future to reinforce this message,” said Mr Knowles.
